I Can Haz Cheeseburgerz In Canz [Food]

Just last month, Gridskipper’s brother blog Gizmodo posted on the hard-to-believe ‘Cheeseburger in a Can.’ Above you’ll see a German taste test of the novelty dish, but we recently came across someone stateside who was actually brave enough to try it.

Although the Trekking Mahleziten Cheeseburger in a Can is currently only available in Germany, the fine folks at AV Club were not only able to get their hands on a one; they successfully kept one down . . . as far as we know. Purchased on eBay from an American soldier stationed in Germany, the cheeseburger was described as being “only very slightly soggy on the bottom, and surprising fluffy and ordinary otherwise.” Post-tasting, however, reactions were as varied as “clammy and clumpy,” “weirdly, unpleasantly smooth,” and “lack[ing] the chewiness of actual meat.” In a taste test bizarrely comparable to that of our own lovely Hunter Walker’s experience with canned whale meat, it seems watching someone ingest a Cheeseburger in a Can is enough to make you never want to yourself.
